STITES, Idaho (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the South Fork of the Clearwater River near Stites, Idaho and a flood warning for the Bitterroot River near Darby and Victor, Mont.
Officials with the National Weather Service say rivers and creeks have risen quickly as warm temperatures over the past several days led to rapid snow melt.
The Bitterroot River was measured at 7.3 feet late Tuesday morning; flood stage is at 7.5 feet. The National Weather Service is warning that flood waters can be expected to inundate several Ravalli County roads.
In Idaho, the South Fork of the Clearwater River is expected to reach flood stages late Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
