Developer proceeding with wind farm

Associated Press - May 21, 2009 11:05 AM ET

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Chevron Global Power Co. plans to begin construction of an 11-turbine wind farm northeast of Evansville despite opposition from some neighbors.

Company spokeswoman Jennifer Silva says the company plans to proceed with the project unless it's instructed not to.

Chevron Global Power Co. has hired a Tennessee company to build the wind farm. That company is recruiting local contractors.

A hearing is set for June 30 in Natrona County District Court on a request from the company and the county government for a judge to dismiss a petition by neighboring landowners opposing the project.

Chevron plans to build the project on 880 acres of the former Texaco refinery property, north of the North Platte River.
