CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming saw its largest over-the-year job losses since 1987 last month, but the downturn isn't as bad as the oil bust of the 1980s.

Wyoming lost 2,200 jobs in April compared to a year earlier, or a decline of 0.8%. In 1987, such over-the-year losses hit 11%.

The natural resources and mining sector continued to shed jobs, falling by 900 over the year, while construction decreased by 2,500 jobs.

Albany County posted the lowest unemployment rate for April at 2.6%, followed by Sublette County at 3.2% and Niobrara County at 3.5%.

The highest county unemployment rates were in Big Horn at 7.9%, Teton at 7.8% and Lincoln at 6.6%.
