GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) - The former choir teacher at Star Valley High School has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading no contest to two counts of having sex with a student.
Lincoln County Attorney Eric Phillips says Jamie Nicole Hale of Star Valley accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced Thursday to a year in jail with six months suspended. She was also placed on probation for three years and ordered to undergo a sex offender evaluation.
Hale, who resigned her teaching position earlier this year, entered no contest pleas to a misdemeanor count of sexual battery and a felony count of sexual abuse of a minor in the fourth degree.
Hale was charged on May 19 with having sexual contact with a 17-year-old boy in January and February.
Phillips says Hale was ordered to report to the Lincoln County Jail on July 1 to begin serving her sentence.
