BONNEVILLE COUNTY - The body of a boater was pulled from the water at the Blacktail end of the Ririe Reservoir Sunday morning. But how much does a search like this cost the taxpayer?

Search teams from Bonneville, Bingham, and Jefferson County scoured the water and the shore for four days looking for 76-year-old Ike Ellis.

Despite budget cuts, Bonneville county said they have a fund set aside just for these kinds of searches.

Although they say it's too early to tell, deputies worked about 1,500 man hours over four days. They were on jet skis, boats, and diving to the bottom of the reservoir.

Most of the search was done by volunteer search and rescue teams, adding no additional cost to the counties.

"All these are expensive, however they set aside money for those in the event that something like this happens so we have money to pay for it," said Sgt. Doug Metcalf, Bonneville County Sheriff's Office.

Rough estimates put the cost at $5,000 for Bonneville County. They say no matter how much it costs, they will do all they can to help the public.
