MURPHY, Idaho (AP) - Authorities say the body of a missing person believed to have been swept off of a state highway and into the Snake River by flash floods in southwest Idaho has been found.
Former Owyhee County Sheriff Gary Aman says George Reed, whose body was found Tuesday, was a former sheriff's deputy.
Reed retired in January after 11 years with the sheriff's office.
The body was found about two miles downstream from where Reed's car was pulled into the rushing river Saturday night.
Witnesses say the car was driving on Highway 78 when a wall of water pushed it off the road, down a creek and into the river.
Meteorologists recorded heavy storms that dropped between one and two inches of rain in the county in an hour Saturday night.
