GOODING, Idaho (AP) - A former Bliss High School teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student last fall, including once on school property, has pleaded guilty to felony sexual battery of a minor.
Anna Bettencourt acknowledged she had improper sexual contact with the boy in 5th District Court on Monday as part of an agreement with prosecutors, who first charged the 39-year-old in February with two felony sexual battery charges.
Jerome County Prosecutor Paul Horgan, who is a special prosecutor in the Gooding County case, dropped 1 of the battery charges and dismissed a $5,000 fine as part of the plea agreement with Bettencourt.
Horgan says he is seeking a prison term of at least three years for the south-central Idaho woman.
