BINGHAM COUNTY - The Idaho Transportation Department announced they are working on two resurfacing projects around Blackfoot.
The first is a 400-foot segment of Interstate 15 north of Blackfoot near milepost 93. The goal is to eliminate the rough surface.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions Friday. Knife River Construction of Idaho expects to have the project done in one day. The estimated cost is about $50,000.
Crews are also planning to seal and waterproof the bridges over two canals.
Knife River crews are also scheduled to resurface Idaho 39 between Springfield and Pingree (milepost 32 to 37), southwest of Blackfoot. Crews will grind the existing surface Friday and start applying an overlay Tuesday. The cost to improve the 1.65 mile section deemed deficient will be about $287,000.
Idaho 39 will be reduced to a single lane in the work zone, and traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. During construction, a 10-foot width restriction will be required.
