Teton County gets $1M from for path to park

Associated Press - June 21, 2009 3:35 PM ET

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Teton County has received $1 million in federal economic stimulus funding to build a pathway between Jackson and Grand Teton National Park.

The state transportation commission voted last week to allocate $700,000 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to the project. That's on top of $300,000 that the Wyoming Department of Transportation already has allocated for the pathway.

The North 89 Pathway Project will be a nonmotorized pathway between Jackson and the south edge of Grand Teton National Park overlooking the National Elk Refuge.

Jackson Hole Community Pathways plans to open the project's first phase for bidding in July. Construction is expected to begin next year.
