TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) - Firefighters contained two wildfires in recent days and are warning residents to take care in the Idaho backcountry as higher temperatures and gusty winds dry out grasses and other vegetation.
On Monday, the 1050 West Fire near Paul burned 236 acres before being contained at 10:00 p.m. by Bureau of Land Management crews.
Its cause is under investigation.
And over the weekend, firefighters also tackled the lightning-caused, 140-acre High Point Well Fire five miles from Hazelton.
BLM spokeswoman Sky Buffat warned drivers not to park or drive over grass and brush, to limit campfires to designated areas and to maintain spark arrestors on equipment or vehicles.
Further to the west, crews on Tuesday were cleaning up lingering hotspots on the Wilson Creek fire near Murphy in Owyhee County, which burned for two days and torched about 150 acres.
