INKOM - Who doesn't love animals? For one local woman, her passion has turned into a full-time job as she rescues wild animals that have been abandoned or orphaned.
Her home has turned into a pen for many different animals and while it's not a petting zoo, it's a place to raise them and then put them back into the wild.
Meet Ally and Grace. Two big eyed very adorable deer who are only weeks old.
"The two little deer I have now, one was, I really didn't expect her to make it through the night, she was just kind of a little lump noodle so I spend the night with them, I feed them every two hours around the clock," said Dory McIssac, Mystic Farm.
Dory feeds them a special treat along with their normal formula bottles.
"So, I'm the mom. They bond with me like I'm the mom. I start slowly introducing them to more and more independence. We start taking walks and eventually the goal is for them to just leave," said McIssac.
Dory moves from bottle feeding the animals to pellets and vegetation to give them an idea what it's going to be like when they're soft released back into the wild.
"Pretty much it's 100% me to feed them and cuddle with them that way they bond with me and me only," said McIssac.
But, giving these animals a second chance is taking a big chunk of change out of Dory's pocket. In fact, it's costing thousands of dollars to raise them.
"That's the biggest satisfaction, just knowing that they have a second chance. I love doing it, but if we can't eat and we can't feed our family, I will stop doing this, but for now, it's okay," said McIssac.
As for when it's their time to leave, Dory said nature will take over and they'll just know.
Idaho Fish and Game wants to remind everyone not to pick up a wild animal even if it looks abandoned.
Mystic Farm is licensed through Fish and Game and they said if they didn't believe in what she does, they wouldn't approve that license.
Dory's been raising animals for the past two years and has already had multiple successes with moose and a deer.
Mystic Farm is a non-profit organization. They could use volunteers, materials and tax deductible cash donations.
