Cemetery board accused of open-meeting violation

Associated Press - July 29, 2009 1:45 PM ET

GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - Gillette police have finished their investigation into allegations that the Campbell County Cemetery District board violated state open-meetings law and turned their findings over to prosecutors.

Campbell County Attorney Jeani Stones says she expects to complete her review of the findings this week.

Cemetery board members Rita Mashak and Nikki Johnson filed complaints claiming the board broke the law by calling a special meeting in June but not telling them ahead of time.

Mashak says she was informed minutes before the meeting started. Johnson says she wasn't told until a minute after it started.
