JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - A man has died after disappearing below the surface of a pond in the Jackson area.

Teton County authorities say the victim was in his late teens or early 20s but his name hasn't been released.

Authorities say he was swimming in Hoback Canyon Thursday when he was reported missing at about 4:45 p.m.

Jackson Hole Fire/EMS spokesman Mike Moyer says a diver pulled the man from the pond. He was declared dead at the scene.

Teton County Coroner Bob Campbell says the victim was from Mexico and had been in the U.S. for five days.

Sheriff's deputies took two witnesses to Jackson to be interviewed.
