GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a Gillette man to serve up to 16 years in prison on convictions of second-degree sexual assault and custodial interference.
Elmer Petersen, 31, received the prison sentence Wednesday. He pleaded no contest in May to the charges.
Prosecutors say Petersen sexually assaulted a woman in September in her home. They say he later led police on a high-speed chase through Weston County with his baby son in his car.
Petersen was arrested after he crashed near Newcastle when officers put spike strips down along the highway. His child wasn't seriously hurt.
