Forest Service plans prescribed burns

Associated Press - August 28, 2009 7:15 AM ET

PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) - The Bridger-Teton National Forest plans two prescribed burns in the Pinedale area this fall.

The agency plans to burn more than 1,300 acres in the Big Sandy area southeast of Pinedale. It plans another burn of roughly 1,000 acres west of Bondurant.

Both burns are cooperative projects supported by Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Officials say they intend both burns to reduce sagebrush and regenerate aspen to benefit wildlife.
