Rocky Mountain Power gets Carbon Co. permit

Associated Press - September 1, 2009 7:45 PM ET

RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) - The Carbon County Planning Commission has given Rocky Mountain Power permission to build a new substation.

The substation would allow Rocky Mountain Power's proposed wind farm to feed power into the electric power grid.

The planners unanimously approved the permit Monday.

The proposed Dunlap wind farm is to be located about eight miles north of Medicine Bow.

Construction of the 200-turbine wind farm is slated to begin in the spring of 2010, and the first wind power should begin flowing to the substation by November 2010.

The wind farm will generate about 300 megawatts of electricity.
