SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Davis County sheriff's office has identified a 5-year-old killed during a weekend hay ride as Kai Jorgensen.

Sheriff's Capt. Kenneth Payne says the boy was run over by the rear tires of a flatbed trailer after his mother lowered him to the ground while it was still running. The accident occurred Saturday about 10 p.m. at the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area near the Great Salt Lake.

Payne says the ride was a family tradition. About 30 family members were gathered for the outing.

Payne says police are not pursing criminal charges.
