2 die in Casper-area house fire

Associated Press - September 14, 2009 9:25 AM ET

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Natrona County Fire District says two people are dead after a house near the base of Casper Mountain caught fire.

Natrona County fire officer Mike Lindahl says one victim was found outside the burning home and was taken by ambulance to Wyoming Medical Center but did not survive. The second victim was found inside the house.

Firefighters responded to the blaze early Sunday morning. The names of the victims weren't released, but Lindahl said they were the only people at home during the fire.

Lindahl says no smoke detectors were found inside the house, and that may have contributed to the deaths. The blaze is still under investigation.
