TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) - The Idaho Judicial Council is seeking public comment on nine attorneys who are in the running for a position as 5th District judge.

The council is set to interview the nine next month, The Times-News reported, and will then forward their recommendations for the pick to Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter. The governor will likely select 1 of them to fill a vacancy created when 5th District Judge Barry Wood retires Dec. 31.

The candidates are: Gooding and Camas County Prosecutor Calvin Campbell, former 5th District Judge Kevin Cassidy, Minidoka County Prosecutor Jonathan Brody, Mini-Cassia area public defender Dennis Byington, private attorney Philip A. Brown, Snake River Basin Adjudication staff attorney Eric Wildman, Bingham County Prosecutor John Andrew, Liberty Mutual Group claims attorney Raymond Goettsch, and private attorney John Meienhofer.
