HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Fog was hampering efforts to resume a search for a small airplane that took off from Wyoming Tuesday, but did not land at its final destination in Laurel.
Montana Aeronautics Division Administrator Debbie Alke says Wednesday's search will focus focused on the Woody Creek area about 30 miles southeast of Billings, based on probable radar contact.
The Cessna airplane left Sheridan, Wyo., at about 11 a.m. Tuesday. The plane was reported overdue by a family member.
The Billings Gazette reported the plane was registered to Fred Wallis, a Lavina rancher.
Monique Lay, a duty officer with the Montana Disaster and Emergency Services, says she was told that two people were on board.
Alke says aircraft and helicopters will begin searching Wednesday as soon as the fog lifts. She says the fog was also keeping ground crews out of the area.
