SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Darl McBride has been ousted as chief executive and president of the embattled SCO Group.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the company filed a regulatory disclosure Monday saying McBride and his positions were terminated.
SCO says the move was part of a bankruptcy restructuring. Control of the company was left with operating and financial officers and a legal counsel.
The SCO Group made a name for itself in 2003 by suing IBM for allegedly copying software owned by SCO into the open-source Linux operating system.
SCO filed suit the next year against Novell Inc., which had claimed its still owned the Unix copyrights. That case is now set for trial after a lengthy and costly court battle that in 2007 sent SCO into the protection of bankruptcy court.
