CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Casper man faces 16 forgery charges after prosecutors say he wrote a total of $675 in checks that belonged to a former roommate.

James Edward Friesen, who officials say wrote the checks to Casper-area stores over a 6-day period in September, made his first appearance before Natrona County Circuirt Court Judge Michael Patchen on Thursday.

Checks were written to purchase boots, a tent and a sleeping bag.

Police say video cameras from an Albertson's grocery store and from Sportsman's Warehouse caught the 21-year-old Friesen making illicit purchases.
