RIGBY - Dog owners from across the west are in eastern Idaho this weekend. The Upper Snake River Valley Dog Training Club held its annual dog agility trial in Rigby at the Wind River Arena.

Eighty dogs are competing in over 200 trials. The handlers say they are the ones who are trained, not the dogs. And when things go wrong, they say it's the handler's fault.

Dog handlers compete for American Kennel Club titles by having their dogs run through a series of jumps, tunnels, and board walks for the fastest times.

Most of them come from out of state and dog handler Sandra Smallwood from Montana said she has to sacrifice to compete.

"It's kind of like that MasterCard commercial: the muddy boots and the hotel costs and the end, it's priceless," she said.

The Upper Snake River Valley Dog Training Club said in April, they will host one of the first American Kennel Club dog shows to allow mixed-breed dogs to compete.
