SOUTHEAST IDAHO - The Southeast District Health Department announced Monday they cancelled three H1N1 vaccine clinics scheduled for Wednesday and Friday.
The specific locations are:
- Lava Health West
- Downey Health West
- Pocatello Health West
"Unfortunately, we are forced to postpone the Health West clinics on the 28th and 30th because of the limited amount of vaccine we have received," said Maggie Mann, Health Promotion Director. "We understand that people may be frustrated by this, and ask that people please continue to be patient, as more vaccine will be arriving in the coming weeks."
If the H1N1 vaccine supply is sufficient, the health department will be holding a vaccine clinic on Friday, Nov. 13, at Idaho State University's Student Union Building in the Wood River Room from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or until the vaccine supply is used up.
"We expect that we will continue to see cases of H1N1 influenza throughout the winter and early spring, and receiving an H1N1 vaccine during the next several weeks and months will be important in limiting spread of the virus," said Mann.
Because the supply is limited, the first few shipment of the H1N1 flu vaccine will be used to vaccinate people in the following priority groups:
- Pregnant women.
- Household contacts and caregivers of children younger than 6 months of age.
- All people from 6 months to 24 years of age.
- Persons aged 25 through 64 who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from the flu (e.g., diabetes, asthma, heart disease, etc.).
- Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel.
