CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A treacherous autumn storm blowing through parts of Wyoming has prompted the closure of all Laramie County District 1 schools and delayed the opening of state offices.
National Weather Service warning coordination meteorologist John Griffith in Cheyenne says high winds are causing drifting snow and reduced visibility, and two or three inches of snow are expected to fall Thursday.
The storm began Tuesday evening, adding enough snow to break total snowfall records for October. More than 25 inches of snow have fallen in the region so far this month, compared to the previous record of 23.1 inches set in 1906.
State government offices in Cheyenne announced they would delay opening on Thursday for two hours, and the F.E. Warren Air Force Base also delayed opening for many workers.
The Laramie County Library and the Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne, closed for the day.
