IDAHO FALLS - A local prinicpal fears the growing gangs across the country, forming because of a single rap group and the degrading messages they put out through their lyrics.
This group has performed locally and are set to come again. Many students and young adults claim to follow their ideals, but a local Principal is trying to stop that.
After attending a conference on gang violence, Rocky Mountain Middle School Principal, Shalene French, became aware of the negative effects the Insane Clown Posse, or ICP, has on her students, and others in the community.
The ICP's music is known for it's dark and violent lyrics, centered around murder, rape, and self-mutilation.
The group is set to perform at the Old Ernst Building on West Broadway come November 9, a concert date Principal French hopes never happens.
"If you could see what they sing about: the rape, the sodomy, suicide and the murder, and just their degradation of women in general, women and children, you would not want, your kids don't need to hear that! "
Those who follow the ICP call themselves 'juggalos' and 'juggalettes.'
Principal French hopes parents will be more involved and help in this fight against gangs.
"When you're 12, 13, or 14 years old and you have a great need to belong somewhere, they will pull them in," said French. "It just strengthens them [ICP] and it takes the student away from their potential - it takes them away from the things they could do well. It affects families, it affects their friends, and it's not a positive affect."
Calls to the ICP were not immediately returned.
