POCATELLO - A former corrections officer will spend 180 days behind bars for having sexual contact with an inmate.

32-year-old Bill Lloyd of Shelley worked at the Pocatello Women's Correctional Center at the time.

On Monday, Lloyd was sentenced by Judge David Nye to six years of probation, along with suspending a sentence of three years fixed and three years indeterminate.

Lloyd also faces 180 days in the local jail with another 180 days suspended.

The biggest dilemma the Judge faced during this sentencing was how you deter others from doing something like this, something he called "an abuse of a power situation."

Since the incident, Lloyd has resigned from the prison.
