POCATELLO - If you live in Pocatello, don't forget to bag up your leaves and put them out for the Sanitation Department to pick up.
As of Monday, the City will begin itself annual leaf collection.
The main reason they pick up leaves is because there is no room in the garbage carts for them.
The Sanitation Department runs an extra truck for the month.
Crews will pick up the leaves on the same day as your garbage service; they should be 25 pounds or less.
They pick up thousands of bags a year, making this a very busy time of the year.
Next year, they're hoping to upgrade their system to a more eco-friendly one.
"Most of the leaves are in plastic bags and they don't compost. One thing we're looking at is moving to compostable bags and boxes and that way they can go right into the landfill," said Randy Allen, Sanitation Superintendent.
This year's service runs through November 28th.
In Chubbuck, you need to sign up for their leaf collection. To do that you can call them directly at 237-2430.
