From working in the family business to playing on the basketball team, to maintaining a near perfect grade point average, Kyly Abbott keeps busy.
Those are only some of the reasons she's our United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student Award winner this week.
Kyly likes to keep in shape physically as well as academically.
She's especially looking forward to the upcoming basketball season.
" As we work together as a team we really grow together more like a family. And it shows that you can do that in any kind of group you get into. If you work hard at it you can succeed, " said Kyly.
There are lots of activities Kyly's involved in.
" Basketball team, softball team, seminary council, Nation Honor Society, Natural Peer Helpers and Friends of Rachel," said Kyly.
Kyly's the kind of girl who naturally reaches out to others, especially those who may seem like they need a friend.
"Lately I've noticed when you compliment someone it totally makes their day. Just like telling them you like their shirt it makes their day and the rest of their day is fabulous," said Kyly.
Piano is another of Kyly's talents.
When she's not practicing in her music or in school or on the basketball court, you'll often find Kyly working at the family business - "Abbotts" in Rigby.
"I'm at the store working, Dad's at the store working, then my little sister will come tag along and my mom's upstairs doing bills, or we're cleaning the store while Dad works at night and we just get to spend a whole lot of time together as a family. I've learned that my family's my best friend. The people in my family will never let me down and they're always there and I can always call them."
