Natrona County suspends search for missing hunter

Associated Press - November 6, 2009 7:25 PM ET

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Natrona County Sheriff's Department again has suspended the search for a 39-year-old Casper man who disappeared last month on an elk-hunting trip.

Travis McMahan was last seen Oct. 24 near the Buffalo Creek Campground, north of Waltman.

Sgt. Mark Sellers of the Natrona County Sheriff's Office says the department suspended the search for McMahan on Thursday. He said searching may resume with dog teams when the snowcover recedes.

The search for McMahan was halted for a few days in late October because of heavy snows in the area but then resumed. Sellers said the search from the air and on the ground has been extensive since then.
