POCATELLO -  Maintenance of trees along the Portneuf River is underway to make the levies safer.

The Pocatello Street Department is dedicating three weeks of time or until the weather becomes too harsh to clean up the trees by the river.

Right now, they're going through and removing any kind of overgrown vegetation along with tree roots.

But, it's a slow process, and on Monday, with nine guys, they only got through 350 feet on the river bank.

They're starting at Cheyenne by the Indian Hills Trail and going north across Bannock Highway for about four miles.
