POCATELLO - If you're looking to get an H1N1 shot in District 6, don't expect to go to a mass vaccination clinic.
Soon, you'll need to find a new strike team or head to your private healthcare provider.
The Southeastern District Health Department will be using the strike teams to deliver H1N1 flu vaccines to group homes, nursing facilities, dialysis centers and facilities where they have skilled nurses.
The healthcare providers, including doctors' offices and pharmacies, that provide seasonal flu vaccines to the public will be able to order their own vaccine supply and give it out just like they do with the seasonal flu.
Providers may not charge for the vaccine, but they may charge an administration fee.
Their original goal was to get a certain percentage of our population vaccinated as quickly as we could and for that reason they used mass vaccination clinics.
"As we're reaching those target percentages and the vaccine is starting to come in a little more consistently then we have enough vaccine available to give it out to a broader number of providers,” said Maggie Mann, Health Promotion Director.
But before completely shifting focus, the Health Department will hold a few more H1N1 mass vaccination clinics.
