POCATELLO - With people watching every dollar, many are looking for less expensive ways of entertainment.
And that's leading to some local businesses winning out.
More people are spending their money to stay home.
"We've noticed a lot more of the installs going on recently. It's getting more popular, the surround sound you know to be in the movie,” said Devrey Jamieson, Installer, The Buzz Shop.
With more people buying home theater systems, Devrey Jamieson is a busy man.
"We've been busy and we'd love to see it be even more busy with the holiday season coming up and I'd like to see it because it keeps me busy,” said Jamieson.
In comparison to last year, the Buzz Shop's owner, Buzz Nielsen, is seeing a 20% increase in home theaters.
"We're seeing a lot of people very interested in doing home theaters in their homes and staying home and fixing their homes up may instead of going out or going on vacations,” said Buzz Nielsen, Owner, The Buzz Shop.
And as more people are buying home theater systems, another local business is seeing a jump in sales as well as more people are renting movies.
"You look at the cost of going to the theaters it's well over $20. You come here and you get, depending on what you want to choose, two movies for under $3 so it's a really great deal,’ said David Kraning, Supervisor, Video Stop.
Last month, they raked in $26,000 in video rentals alone; it's something he hopes will continue.
"We just really look forward to seeing increased growth and right now everything is just really going well for us,” said Kraning.
That's exactly the feeling of Jamieson and other installers as well.
Both stores are looking forward to the future and the holidays, hoping more people will turn to them.
