IDAHO FALLS – An unexpected tour stop for the band “We Shot the Moon” Saturday, as the driver lost control of its van while driving on I-15 southbound through Idaho Falls.

The van flipped over and ended up on its side in the median between the freeway and the Broadway onramp.

The California-based band played a show in Rexburg Friday evening, and was traveling to Salt Lake City for a show there when the accident happened.

Lead singer Johnathan Jones was driving at the time, and says the van hit black ice and began to slightly fishtail.  He says they regained control briefly, but the trailer connected to the back of the van carrying much of the band’s performing equipment never fully recovered.

Jones says the trailer swung around, turning the van, and sending it off the road and down the small embankment.

“There was a split second when I thought we were going to flip and it’s kind of a weird feeling when you think ‘this is it’, and then it’s not,” said Jones.

No one was severely injured in the accident.

Jones and his fellow band members estimate the overall cost in damages could tally over $10,000.

We Shot the Moon has a considerably large following among youth in Idaho and Utah, especially students at BYU-Idaho.
