BURLEY, Idaho (AP) - A man from Burley has created a nonprofit foundation in hopes of raising enough money to build an aquatic and recreation center in the southern Idaho town.

Jeff Hawker says he hopes to pursue grants and private donations to build the center. The Times-News reports he's in the process of purchasing 30 acres for the project.

Hawker says his foundation, called the American Youth Activities Facilities Foundation - will only build the facility, leaving other groups to handle maintenance and operation.

The foundation has until July 2010 to pay off the 30-acre parcel.
