IDAHO FALLS – The $84.5 million bond election for Idaho Falls School District 91 will be held Tuesday. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The district says the money will help make improvements, make the schools more energy efficient and help keep up in the advances in technology.
The district also has plans to build a new school at the south end of Idaho Falls to accommodate growth.
“By passing the bond now, we’ll be able to take advantage of low construction costs, the lowest interest rates in 40 years and get the best value for patrons,” said Board Chairman David Lent.
The rest of the projects the district has planned are:
- Rebuild the district’s oldest elementary schools: Ethel Boyes, Edgemont, Longfellow and Dora Erickson
- Close Theresa Bunker as an elementary school and remodel it to house special programs
- Add classrooms and multipurpose rooms at Sunnyside and Westside elementary schools
- Add a multipurpose room at Fox Hollow Elementary School
- Add a multipurpose room, plus a new office area, at Temple View Elementary School
- Install energy efficiency upgrades at Linden Park, Taylorview and Eagle Rock and a new fire suppression system at Eagle Rock
- Remodel classrooms and update electrical, lighting and HVAC system at Emerson
Upgrade science labs and energy install energy efficiencies at Clair E. Gale Jr. High School
- Add 8 classrooms, including new science labs, at Idaho Falls High School
- Renovate and upgrade the science wing at Skyline High School
- Update some locker rooms, public restrooms and concession stands at Ravsten Stadium
- Lighting upgrades at A.H. Busch and other schools, and district-wide energy conservation measures
- Remodel some administrative areas
- District-wide lighting upgrades and energy conservation measures
To vote, go to Skyline or Idaho Falls High Schools, Clair E. Gale Junior High School and any Idaho Falls elementary school except Dora Erickson.
Voters can register at the polls with a photo ID and proof of residency.
