PROVO, Utah (AP) - Utah County authorities have officially released the identity of the man killed in a home invasion near Payson.

Sheriff's Lt. Darren Gilbert said Wednesday the man has been identified as 70-year-old Kay Mortensen.

Mortensen was a retired Brigham Young University professor. Friends and neighbors had earlier said he was the man who was killed.

BYU spokesman Michael Smart says Mortensen worked at the school from 1968 to 2005. When he left BYU, he was part of the mechanical engineering department, where he had been teaching about 10 years.

Gilbert says Mortensen's cause of death is still under review by a medical examiner.

Officials are releasing few details in the home invasion beyond that they are interested in finding a blue hatchback seen at the scene. Gilbert says the investigation is ongoing.
