CHUBBUCK & POCATELLO - With this year being a struggle, many local families are having to do without during the holidays.  But the Salvation Army in Pocatello is hoping you can help give back to families that may not have much.

The annual Angel Tree program is going on right now through December 13th at the Pine Ridge Mall in Chubbuck.  The program helps low-income families apply for Christmas assistance.

Parents can come in and fill out an application if they meet certain guidelines and a tag with their child's name will be put up on the tree.  Then donors can come and take tags to buy items for the kids.

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help with the trees, sort food and make food boxes this year.  Those that help out with the program say it's nice to help local families have Christmas.

"I have done this so many years that I've brought my kids into it.  And it just makes me feel good that I know that I'm helping somebody out because I don't want to see somebody go without," said Nicki Reed, an Angel Tree volunteer.

If you'd like to volunteer with the Angel Tree program or make a donation, you can call the Salvation Army in Pocatello at 232-5318.
