IDAHO FALLS - If you traveled on a major roadway this holiday weekend, chances are you saw Idaho State Police out in full force making sure you drive safely. Now that travelers are coming home, ISP said it was a successful weekend.
ISP said it was a great weekend. Despite all the extra drivers, they only had one DUI and no fatalities in District Six, which was very rare for them.
They said the great weather we had this week, coupled with the thousands of safe drivers, made for a very successful weekend in the Idaho Falls area.
ISP had more officers on hand watching for aggressive drivers, speeders and drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
"We stopped a lot of people and made a lot of contacts just trying to remind people that when they are out there driving aggressively not only are they at risk but the people they are sharing the road with. That's my family and yours," said Trooper Sibus, Idaho State Police.
ISP also said drivers carefully followed the Move Over Law, where you're supposed to slow down and change lanes if an officer is on the side of the road. They say that alone makes their job safer when they pull someone over.
