Losing your pet is never a good feeling. For a truck driver from Texas, it's been three long weeks since seeing his one-year-old little Shiba-inu.
Little Gidget has been living with the family who found her at a truck stop since Halloween.
And around 4:30 pm Wednesday, she was finally reunited with her owner.
The Eline family was going fishing on October 26th and stopped at the Flying J in McCammon. That's when they found an unexpected friend.
"We just saw her running around in the parking lot and she was chasing after another trucker, thinking it was her Dad," Daphne Eline, found Gidget.
They called the vet's number on the dog's collar that put them in touch with its rightful owner, John Allerton.
Wednesday afternoon, John and Gidget shared their own special moment, after a long journey back to Idaho.
It hasn't been easy for John to return to McCammon, all for his little furry companion.
"My dispatch sent me back on the same load that I lost her on. Exact same load. In fact, I might pick up the same stuff on the way back. We were going back when I lost her. In fact, I lost her right over there. I let her out to go to the bathroom and then I couldn't find her and she must not have heard me and then after awhile, I had to go," said John Allerton, Gidget's owner.
The Elines has grown close to Gidget.
"She was a monster. We were going to put up invisible fence because she was quick," said Eline.
After trucking for 20 years, having someone by his side, makes every day worth it.
"Well now, it's better having her," said Allerton.
It's all because of a pink collar and a very caring family.
John said the best part of the reunion is just having her back. Their next stop is in Washington.
The Elines had considered flying her back to John on an airplane or simply giving her to another loving family if he couldn't make it back to the area.
