IDAHO FALLS - The two sloth bears that arrived last fall from the Little Rock Zoo have settled into their temporary home at the Tautphaus Park Zoo.
However, as construction crews continue work on a new bear exhibit, zoo officials worry they may need more funding to complete the project.
Gersonde says construction of the new bear exhibit is moving forward on schedule. However, the zoo is hoping to raise another $50,000 to make up for rising construction costs.
"As with so many things, the costs have increased on this project, and the bears are here and ready to move into their new home, so we need some help finishing up this campaign," said Zoo Superintendent Bill Gersonde.
Construction on the exhibit is part of the "Bring back the Bears" campaign. Zoo officials say they hope to have the project completed by April 2009. It will open to the public on May 29th.
