Otter waiting for details of any fiscal cliff cuts
Otter, state agency leaders waiting for details of any fiscal cliff cuts and impact on state
Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is taking a wait-and-see approach on the impact to the state of federal funding cuts in the wake of any fiscal cliff deal.
In June, Otter asked all state agencies to identify how much money they get from the federal government and to calculate at least a 20 percent reduction in those funds. Otter asked agency heads to report back to him by August.
The Idaho Statesman reports that Otter has yet to share publically the results of his assignment.
On Monday, Otter spokesman Mark Warbis said they are waiting for a report from President Obama's staff spelling out federal funding cuts for states.
Warbis said the state will then assess impacts on an agency-by-agency basis.
