Panel kills bill allowing guns in Wyo. schools

A bill that would allow people to carry concealed guns in Wyoming K-12 schools and on college campuses has died in a Senate committee.

No one on the Senate Education Committee made a motion Friday to recommend House Bill 105 and so the bill does not advance further. The bill had passed the state House.

The bill would have lifted the current prohibition on carrying guns on school grounds for teachers, parents and guardians who have state-issued concealed carry permits.

The Senate Education Committee heard about an hour and 45 minutes of testimony on the bill Friday morning.

Supporters say that armed responsible adults can better protect Wyoming schools and colleges from attacks. Opponents say allowing more guns would only make schools less safe.
