CASPER, Wyo. (AP) -

Casper's police chief is apologizing for how it handled part of the investigation into last week's killings.

On Friday, 25-year-old Christopher Krumm stabbed his father's girlfriend to death at her home before going to Casper College to kill his father and then himself. The body of 42-year-old Heidi Arnold was left outside for hours, within view of people nearby, as police investigated both scenes.

KTWO-AM reports that many expressed concern about that, leading Police Chief Chris Walsh to apologize on Monday for not being better prepared to handle such a scene. He promised to correct that.

He said wind prevented police from using a tent to shield the body. Officers tried to use cars to block the view but Walsh said that clearly wasn't enough.
