IDAHO FALLS - School may be coming to a close for the summer but two local teens are on their way to Washington DC to compete in the National History Day competition.
Two 8th graders from Rocky Mountain Middle School defended their first place title at the state championships recently, taking them to the Nation's Capitol.
Marissa Lords and Tyler Stevens spent much of the last six months working on their History Day exhibit. They found an unknown kid named Buster Hill. He helped buy war stamps during World War Two.
"We did it on someone we don't even know who would have made a difference. It's all of the individuals working together who make the difference and that's what really amazed me," said Lords.
The display will compete in a national competition later this month.
If you would like to help donate to traveling expenses, an account is open at East Idaho Credit Union under the title, National Day Fund.
Last year, the two teens made it to the national championship, but fell short. They say because of that experience they are better prepared this time around.
