IDAHO FALLS - Kari Atkinson, a teacher at Sandcreek Middle School in Ammon, pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16.
As part of the plea agreement, the other three counts of lewd conduct were dismissed.
Atkinson faces life in prison for each count. She will be sentenced Dec. 17. The judge said she needs to take a psychological evaluation before then.
The 28-year-old PE instructor was also ordered not to have contact with the 14-year-old victim.
The secret relationship with the young man lasted about four-to-six months over the summer involving certain sexual contact. Prosecutors said they had evidence of text messages and photos of them. Meanwhile the sheriff's office believes there are not other victims.
