IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) - An Idaho Falls middle school physical education teacher has pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with a 14-year-old male student.

Kari Atkinson entered the plea Wednesday to two counts of lewd conduct with a minor. In exchange for the plea, three other counts of the same charge will be dropped.

The 28-year-old Atkinson taught at Sandcreek Middle School in Ammon. She was arrested in September.

Sentencing has been scheduled for Dec. 17.

Atkinson faces the possibility of life in prison.

Prosecutors say Atkinson had a relationship with a student over a 4 to 6 month period.
