POCATELLO - The City of Pocatello has a new mayor. Roger Chase lost Tuesday night to Brian Blad by 375 votes. The unofficial votes came to Roger Chase getting 3,417 and Brian Blad receiving 3,792 of the votes. Blad will begin his term in January 2010.
Meanwhile, newcomer Craig Cooper beat out incumbent Robert Richway by 10 percent of the vote for Pocatello City Council. Cooper got 3,863 votes and Richway got 3,101 of the votes.
The only incumbent that will retain their position is Pocatello City Counciman Gary Moore. Running against him was a candidate nearly four decades younger than him, Ethan Ciccone, 18. Moore received 4,825 of the votes and Ciccone got 2,039 of the votes. Ciccone says he plans to run again in four years.
In Chubbuck, first time Mayor Steven England was running for re-election unopposed.
Also in Chubbuck, Chubbuck City Council had two four-year term seats up for grabs. One of the candidates who won one of those seats was Mayor England's brother Kevin England. The second seat will be occupied by Joshua D. Ellis.
Chubbuck City Council numbers broke down to Kevin England receiving 850 votes, Josh Ellis getting 740 votes, Tyler Medina 611 votes and Rebecca Ponkow receiving 598 votes.
