BINGHAM CO. - For voters in Bingham County, this was the last year for punch cards.

Idaho is the last state in the union to still use punch cards, and Bingham County is only one of five counties that uses this method - but that all will change next year.

The County has been saving for more than six years to purchase new voting equiptment.

The Election Clerk said it's not that the punch card method is not working, or the new method will make things move faster; it's just a way of updating the voting process in Bingham County - hoping to keep up with the rest of the country.

"We'll be counting a new way - have paper ballots and fill in the ovals so, it was kinda a fun election this time because it is our last punch card," said Election Clerk, Marlene Jensen.

Tuesday was the last day to vote with a punch card. The new method will be filling in a bubble sheet.
