" I think the biggest reward of sewing your own clothes is it's really nice to have the fit that you made and you're also very proud. It's a sense of accomplishment when people see you wearing it and saying 'you made that' and they're all surprised and it just makes you feel good, "said Lexy. Besides winning lots of awards and ribbons for her sewing skills, Lexy has earned all A's through high school.
" This is a dress I made for FCCLA. I competed at regionals and nationals and I won, I got a gold medal at nationals," explained Lexy as she showed off one of the dresses she had made and wore to the prom.
She's a proud member of FCCLA - Family Career and Community Leaders of America.
But she says it's about more than the grades.
" I think that getting all A's is a big deal, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but I think there's more to school than grades. I think that just the education is really important and just getting ready for life and things after high school."
While Lexy spends lots of time on sewing and school she also enjoys sports, hunting and snowmobiling and she has this recommendation for her fellow students.
" I would say get involved, don't just drag your feet everywhere you go. You have to be here for four years anyway so you might as well have fun. Don't just waste away your high school."
